190 State-Nominated Skilled Migration
Introduction
The 190 State-Nominated Skilled Migration Visa is a permanent residency visa requiring applicants to meet point-test criteria, receive an invitation and nomination from an Australian state or territory, and then submit a visa application to the immigration department. Unlike the 189 visa, which allows unrestricted settlement anywhere in Australia, the 190 visa requires applicants to settle in their nominating state for at least two years before moving to other regions.
190 Visa Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Under 45 years.
- Occupation: Listed on the Australian Skilled Occupation List and assessed by a relevant skills assessing authority.
- EOI Score: Minimum of 65 points, including the 5 points awarded for state nomination.
- English Proficiency: Minimum of IELTS 4 bands of 6 or equivalent (valid for three years).
- EOI Submission: Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) and receive an invitation.
- Health and Character Requirements: Must pass health checks and have no criminal record.
190 Visa Application Process
- Submit EOI: Select the nominating state and wait for the invitation.
- Lodge 190 Visa Application: Submit the visa application within 60 days of receiving the invitation.
- Health Examination: Complete required medical checks.
- Visa Processing: Await the outcome of the visa application.
- Grant of Visa: Receive permanent residency under the 190 visa.
