Regional State-Nominated Skilled Migration(491)
Introduction
The 491 Regional Skilled Migration Visa is a 5-year temporary visa designed for applicants who are sponsored by a regional state/territory government or a designated relative living in a regional area. This visa operates on a points-based system, requiring an invitation and nomination. Upon obtaining a 491 visa, applicants must live and work in the nominating region for at least 3 years before applying for the 191 Permanent Residency Visa. Once the 191 visa is granted, the applicant will officially acquire Australian permanent residency.
491 Visa Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Must be under 45 years old.
- Occupation: Must be listed on the MLTSSL, STSOL, or ROL occupational lists and validated by a relevant skills assessment authority.
- EOI Points: A minimum of 65 points is required, including the 15 points awarded for state nomination.
- English Proficiency: IELTS with at least 4 band 6 or equivalent; results must be valid within 3 years.
- Expression of Interest (EOI): Must submit an EOI and receive an invitation to apply.
- Health and Character Requirements: Must meet health and character requirements, with no criminal record.
