Resident Return Visas (155/157)

Australian permanent residency visas generally have a re-entry validity of five years. After this period, if a permanent resident needs to return to (re-enter) Australia, they must apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV), either Subclass 155 or 157.

Allows Australian permanent residents or former permanent residents to return to (re-enter) Australia.

Visa Validity

1 to 5 years, depending on eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Residency Requirement:Applicants must have lived in Australia for at least 2 years within the past 5 years as a permanent resident.
  • If Residency Requirement is Not Met: Applicants must demonstrate substantial ties to Australia (economic, cultural, or familial).
